Solving Family Law Matters

Flintoff Lawyers will advise you on all the options available to resolve your Family Law matters.

You may be able to come to an agreement about all or some of the matters you wish to resolve by having us communicate with your partner.

You also have the option of Mediation. The Mediation process puts the control of dispute resolution in your hands rather than leaving it up to a Judge to decide.

Mediation is usually significantly cheaper and quicker than going to Court. You can mediate your dispute at any time, even when your matter is already in Court. Many types of disputes can be mediated including: the division of property after separation, the parenting arrangements for children, employment disputes, disputes about the division of a deceased estate, disputes about schooling, disputes about contracts and commercial arrangements.

The firms'Principal Tracy Flintoff is a LEADR accredited mediator under the Australian National Mediator Accreditation System. If you would like to know more about mediation please contact us.

How Flintoff Lawyers work

Most situations that require legal advice are complex and may not be able to be addressed (at least initially) over the phone or by email.

This is why at Flintoff Lawyers we encourage you to book an appointment with us to discuss your situation. We can then ask you the questions we need to know and you have the opportunity to ask us questions in return.

If you have certain days or times that suit you best for an appointment let us know and we will do our best to be flexible in meeting your needs.

What if I need to go to Court

If you need to go to Court Flintoff Lawyers can attend Court with you and present your case.

Flintoff Lawyers can try and resolve your case through negotiations at Court. We can:
• Prepare your Court documents on your behalf.
• Run your hearing - challenging the case of the other side and asking questions of witnesses (cross examination).
• Tell the Court what it needs to know about your case in a persuasive and logical way.
• Answer questions that the Court has on your behalf.
• Explain what happens in Court to you in a way that you can understand.

How do we charge

There a few different ways that Flintoff Lawyers charge for our fees, depending on the type of work you want us to do. For example conveyancing, wills, powers of attorney, enduring guardianship documents, financial agreements are usually charged at a fixed rate.

Some Court matters are also charged at a fixed rate. The rest of our work is usually charged on a time recorded basis, where we record the time that we spend on your matter and provide you with an invoice that reflects the time taken to carry out your work.
