Selvadurai Raveendran (Ravi) read Law in Sri Lanka, graduating with Honours. He was admitted to practice on January 17, 1971 and practised largely in commercial law and litigation, acting for several local multinational companies. In 1980 he became qualified as a Solicitor in England. Ravi moved to Australia in 1984 and took his oaths in Melbourne, Australia and was granted admission to practise as a Barrister and Solicitor in September 1985. Ravi initially worked with Gregorys Solicitors in Brunswick, rising soon to become a Partner with them. Ravi commenced his own practice in Brunswick as ‘Ravi James’ in 1990. After a long and successful run Ravi became a consultant to Wisewoulds Lawyers before recommencing with his practice in the city. Many students, overseas lawyers and graduates have trained with Ravi and gone on to have rewarding careers. Ravi specialised in migration law handling several matters from initiating applications to reviews with Tribunals and Courts. Ravi now attends to a substantial amount of commercial and property law, while attending to the migration matters of the clients who continue to seek his services. Ravi is the honorary solicitor for the Hindu Society of Victoria and the preferred solicitor within Sri Lankan, Indian, Fijian and other sub continent communities.
Tejpal (Tej) is a Melbourne University bursary holder. He graduated with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce (major in Accounting) in 2008.
He completed his postgraduate studies in 2009 and worked for a specialist immigration firm, Erskine Rodan & Associates, for a number of years prior to joining Ravi James.
In his work with Ravi James, he manages a wide variety of cases and has a particular interest in both criminal law and commercial matters (including advice and litigation).
He has been admitted to the Supreme and High courts and has experience practising in a number of courts and tribunals, including involvement in a number of High Court appeal applications.
Tej has also spent a number of years working in Computershare Ltd, where he was involved in corporate banking and finance.
Tej enjoys a great success rate and prides himself on achieving the best possible results, both in the immediate and long term, for his clients.
Visalini Srishanmuganathan, nee Raveendran studied Law/Arts at La Trobe University and throughout her studies, Visalini worked as a paralegal at Ravi James. Visalini was admitted to practice in Victoria, Australia on 13 February 2007 and after admission she relocated to London, England where she qualified as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales. Visalini practised criminal law in East London largely conducting murder trials and other similar matters. Visalini also worked as a Government Prosecutor in Essex in her final year in England and dealt largely with probation violations, including obtaining arrest warrants for non-compliance by offenders. After moving back to Melbourne in 2010 Visalini re-commenced practice with Ravi James and is working in property/conveyancing law and criminal law.
